Time and controversy may pass, but Cristiano Ronaldo’s scoring instinct remains sharp. The Portuguese forward returned to action with Al Nassr and needed just 18 minutes to find the net in Matchday 22 of the Saudi Pro League against Al Fateh.
The strike was the 962nd goal of his professional career, bringing him closer to the historic 1,000-goal milestone.
How Ronaldo scored his 962nd career goal
The former Real Madrid star made his move inside the box and tapped home following a wide delivery to open the scoring at the Prince Abdullah Bin Jalawi Stadium.
After scoring, Ronaldo celebrated with his trademark “Siuu” jump, raising his arms before bending down near the corner flag.
The reasons behind Ronaldo’s recent frustration
Portuguese media had previously reported that Ronaldo was unhappy with how the Public Investment Fund was managing Al Nassr, believing there was unequal treatment compared to Al Hilal, who recently signed Karim Benzema.
The outlet A Bola also suggested that Ronaldo’s protest was linked to delayed payments to club employees and staff.
“A BOLA understands that Al Nassr’s structure gave in to the Portuguese star’s pressure and, in recent hours, settled all outstanding payments to its employees,” the newspaper reported.
