Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr wrote their name into the record books after reaching a streak of 94 consecutive league matches with at least one goal, surpassing a mark that had stood for nearly 90 years.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr reached 94 consecutive league matches with at least one goal, surpassing a historic record held by River Plate since 1939. However, the streak came to an end on Tuesday with a heavy 4-0 defeat against Al-Ain in the AFC Champions League Elite.
The historic run reached 94 matches following a 1-1 draw against Al-Khaleej, surpassing the 93 consecutive scoring matches recorded by River Plate between 1936 and 1939.
However, just days after reaching the historic milestone, the Saudi side failed to score in Tuesday’s 4-0 defeat against Al-Ain in their AFC Champions League Elite opener.
Al-Nassr Surpass River Plate’s Historic Record
Al-Nassr’s remarkable streak began after a 3-0 defeat against Al-Hilal in December 2023. From there, the team started its scoring run with a 4-1 victory over Al-Riyadh, beginning a sequence that would eventually become a historic record.
Cristiano Ronaldo was one of the leading figures throughout this period. The Portuguese forward joined the club in 2023 and has captained the team during the record-breaking run.
The achievement also represents another remarkable milestone in the Portuguese star’s career, having previously been part of another team that produced an extended scoring streak. His Real Madrid side scored in 73 consecutive matches between April 2016 and September 2017, although that run included matches across all competitions.
Al-Ain Bring the Scoring Streak to an End
The celebration of the record was quickly overshadowed by one of Al-Nassr’s heaviest defeats in recent times. Al-Ain secured a 4-0 victory thanks to a brace from Houssine Rahimi and goals from Soufiane Rahimi and Giorgos Giakoumakis.
The team coached by Ange Postecoglou was unable to respond and, for the first time after its historic scoring sequence, finished an official match without finding the back of the net.
Despite the heavy defeat, the record has already been established: Al-Nassr managed to surpass a mark that had stood since 1939, with Cristiano Ronaldo once again playing a part in a historic scoring streak.
