(VIDEO) Javier Aguirre Dances With His Players After Beating the US in the Gold Cup Final
The Mexican coach stole the spotlight with his iconic “Payaso de Rodeo” moves in the locker room after defeating their longtime rivals in the 2025 Gold Cup Final.
“El Vasco” celebrates like a champion and like your fun uncle
The Mexico National Team claimed the 2025 Gold Cup title with a 2-1 win over the United States at Houston’s NRG Stadium, and the locker room celebration quickly went viral. The main star? Head coach Javier Aguirre, who joined his players in dancing to the iconic Mexican party song “Payaso de Rodeo.”
In the viral footage, Aguirre is seen wearing his game-day attire—dress pants and a button-down shirt—but fully immersed in the celebration. Alongside his players, the coach showed off his best moves, bringing big energy and laughter to the party.
A viral moment full of Mexican flair
The video was posted by Orbelín Pineda, one of the most energetic players in the squad, and it sparked a wave of positive reactions online. This isn’t the first time Aguirre has danced to this song—he did so at a wedding back in 2021 while managing Monterrey, although that episode ended with a fine for breaking COVID protocols.
This time, however, the mood was pure joy. Mexico had just overcome their fiercest rivals in a highly anticipated final, giving them a massive confidence boost ahead of the 2026 World Cup. In the post-match press conference, Aguirre kept the party going: “Honestly, I’m exhausted, but nothing’s going to keep me from having a beer... and maybe a bit of whisky Silvia left in the room,” he joked, laughing with reporters.
El Tri’s focus shifts to upcoming friendlies
With the trophy in hand, Mexico now looks ahead to two international friendlies in September: one against Japan on Saturday, September 6, at the Oakland Coliseum, and another against South Korea on Tuesday, September 9, at Geodis Park in Nashville. Match times are yet to be confirmed.
The locker room celebration showed a united team and a coach who not only knows how to win—but also how to celebrate in style. The image of Aguirre dancing to “Payaso de Rodeo” will remain one of the most memorable moments of this Gold Cup triumph.
