(VIDEO) Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. Scores His First Goal with Portugal U-16, Following in His Father’s Footsteps at the Federations Cup
The heir to the Portuguese legend begins to make his mark with the U-16 national team
History seems to be repeating itself. Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., the eldest son of the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo, scored his first official goal for the Portugal U-16 national team, taking the first step in what many see as the continuation of a family legacy. The 15-year-old found the net in a 3-0 victory over Wales at the Federations Cup, held in Antalya, Turkey.
The goal came in the 42nd minute, when Carlos Moita delivered a precise pass, and the teenager responded with a low right-footed shot that left the Welsh goalkeeper helpless. It wasn’t just the opener—it was a symbolic moment for the son of the all-time leading goalscorer in international football.
After his strike, Rafael Cabral extended the lead in the 65th minute and sealed the win with another goal in the 91st. With this result, the Portuguese side claimed its second consecutive victory after defeating Turkey 2-0 in their opening match, where Cristiano Jr. had already shown flashes of his talent and vision on the field.
The Beginning of a New Era for the Ronaldo Dynasty
The young player, affectionately known in Portugal as Cristianinho, has been developing under the close guidance of his father for years. He currently plays in the Al Nassr academy, the Saudi club where Cristiano Ronaldo stars, though he previously spent time in the youth systems of Manchester United and Juventus, following the same professional path as his five-time Ballon d’Or-winning father.

His debut with Portugal’s U-16 side came the previous Thursday against Turkey, and his progress has been steady. Back in May, he had already stood out with the U-15 team, scoring twice in the final of the Vlatko Markovic Tournament in Croatia, where Portugal were crowned champions after a 3-2 win over the hosts.
Portugal Looks to the Future with Optimism
Led by a promising new generation, Portugal’s U-16 team will face England next on November 4, aiming to maintain their perfect record in the tournament. The performance of Cristiano Jr. will be closely watched—not only by Portuguese fans but also by his proud father, who has openly expressed his joy at seeing his son wear the national jersey.
Cristiano Ronaldo Jr.’s goal is more than just a statistic—it’s the opening chapter of a story that promises to carry on one of the greatest legacies in world football.
