What A Blow: Sergiño Dest Suffers a Serious Injury and Will Miss the Copa América
It's official: Sergiño Dest, player for the United States Men's National Team and on loan at PSV Eindhoven, has suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and will miss the 2024 Copa América.
The player announced this news through his social media channels, posting a video expressing his feelings about this devastating news.
"Unfortunately, I ruptured my anterior cruciate ligament and will undergo surgery soon," declared the full-back, who will be sidelined until 2025. "I will give my all to return to my level as soon as possible. It will be a tough period for me, but I know it will only make me stronger," added the American.
It's worth noting that Dest's contract still belongs to Barcelona; therefore, negotiations between PSV and the Catalan club were underway for a fee of $10 million. However, this injury could change the plans for the Dutch club.
