Real Madrid's True Cost to Sign Mastantuono Revealed: Over €50 Million Deal in the Works
Franco Mastantuono continues to dominate headlines — not just for his brilliance on the pitch, but for the high price tag now attached to his potential transfer to Real Madrid. According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, the final cost to secure the River Plate starlet will exceed €50 million.
Why Won’t the Deal Cost “Just” €45 Million?
While the midfielder's contract includes a €45 million release clause, River Plate have made it clear that this is not the final amount. Romano explained that any club triggering the clause must also cover an additional 13% in taxes, raising the total to €50.85 million gross.
River are standing firm on their valuation and believe Mastantuono’s potential warrants the full amount — if not more — given his rapid rise and international attention.
What Is Real Madrid’s Plan?
Los Blancos were among the first to make a move for Mastantuono, back when his clause was still €15 million. But after the teenager renewed his contract, the figure tripled, and talks were paused. Now, Real Madrid have reactivated the operation, using the same method they applied for Arda Güler — sending chief scout Juni Calafat to Buenos Aires to lead negotiations personally.
Mastantuono, currently with Argentina’s senior national team, is focused on training alongside Lionel Messi, so the club is handling the timeline with care and patience.
