After taking part in a charity match in Brazil, Neymar Junior broke his silence regarding the interest from several clubs looking to sign him for the Club World Cup, which kicked off last week in the United States.

Declined to Play with Fluminense

“I had conversations with some teams about playing in the Club World Cup. Fluminense came very close to making it happen, but I chose to stay and train a bit more. I’m 100% physically, but I need to be even better to return in top form,” the forward said during an interview on the Flow Podcast.

Responds to Criticism

The Brazilian star also took the opportunity to address the frequent criticism he receives regarding his off the pitch lifestyle.

“People have a certain image of me as a player. Many think that the parties I attended and the carnivals I went to were happening all the time. But I only did those things when I could on my days off, during vacation…” said Neymar, who is now 33 years old.

Proud of His Career

Neymar expressed pride in what he has achieved throughout his professional career, having played for top clubs like FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, as well as being a regular figure in the Brazilian national team.

“I’ve been at a high level for 15 years, playing for great teams and representing the national team. That takes a lot of dedication and sacrifice. I know what it means to make it this far. I’m very proud of everything I’ve done,” he stated.

Contract Extension with Santos and Eyes on Europe

According to reports from Brazil, Neymar contract extension with Santos until June 2026 is nearly finalized, with all terms agreed upon between the club and his representatives. However, his father revealed he will be traveling to Miami to explore potential opportunities with European clubs leaving the door open for a possible return to European football.
