Modric Has Chosen His Next Club After Turning Down Real Madrid and Xabi Alonso
Luka Modrić is set to continue his legendary career in Serie A, as reports confirm that he has reached a verbal agreement to join AC Milan after parting ways with Real Madrid.
From Bernabéu Glory to San Siro Challenge
At 39 years old, Luka Modrić has decided not to renew his contract with Real Madrid, choosing instead to embark on a new chapter with AC Milan. According to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the Croatian midfielder has agreed in principle to join the Rossoneri, with the deal expected to be finalized as early as Wednesday.
Modrić, who played for the Spanish giants for over a decade, exits as a club legend, having won numerous titles, including the Ballon d’Or in 2018. In his final season with Los Blancos, he recorded four goals and nine assists across all competitions, despite the team’s underwhelming campaign where they failed to secure major silverware beyond the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Intercontinental Cup.
Milan Win the Race for Modrić
While Inter Miami, Rangers, and Al-Nassr were all rumored to be potential destinations, it is AC Milan who appear to have convinced the Croatian to continue his professional career in Italy. The club, which finished eighth in the 2024-25 Serie A season, is hoping Modrić’s experience and leadership can elevate the squad.
Despite his departure from LaLiga, Modrić remains active on the international scene and is expected to captain Croatia in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Gibraltar and Czechia.
