A Project With Champions’ DNA

Luis Suárez and Lionel Messi, both currently playing for Inter Miami, officially announced on Tuesday the launch of Deportivo LSM, a new football club that will compete in Uruguayan leagues. The news was shared in a video on social media, where the Uruguayan striker described the project as “a family dream.”

“We’ve lived through so much together since we were young, sharing experiences at the highest level of football. That’s why today I want to introduce a friend and teammate with whom I share a similar vision from our early days,” said Suárez before presenting Messi.

The Argentina national team captain expressed his pride and excitement at being part of the club. “It’s an honor to be involved in this with you. I hope I can contribute in every way to help it grow,” said the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner.

Infrastructure, Community, and Professional Vision

Luis Suárez explained that the idea for the project began in 2018 as a family-driven initiative. “Today, we have over 3,000 members and solid infrastructure both in our sports complex and training facilities, offering activities for boys, girls, and teenagers,” he noted.

Deportivo LSM aims to compete under the umbrella of the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) at both youth and professional levels. Suárez emphasized that the club’s mission is not only athletic development but also building strong community ties with families at the center.

The team will be based at the Suárez Complex, located in Ciudad de la Costa, in the Canelones department, just 20 kilometers from Montevideo. This sports center, owned by Suárez, was renovated and expanded in 2022 to strengthen its role in local football development.

“I always emphasize the importance of family because there’s nothing better than sharing all of this with them,” said Suárez, making it clear that the project goes beyond football—it’s a vision rooted in unity, growth, and legacy.

With two legends of the game behind it, Deportivo LSM begins its journey with strong roots and bold ambitions, ready to make an impact in Uruguayan football.
