Deco Arrives in Ibiza to Accelerate Nico Williams Signing
FC Barcelona has stepped up its pursuit of Nico Williams. The club sporting director, Deco, traveled to Ibiza this afternoon alongside Bojan Krkić and Alejandro Echevarría with the goal of advancing the signing of the Navarrese winger, following a meeting held last Friday in Barcelona with the player agent.

Deco Travels to Ibiza to Finalize the Deal
While some sources had reported that Deco would travel to Bilbao, the Barça executive ultimately flew to Ibiza, where Nico is currently vacationing. Spanish outlet Jijantes captured the arrival of Deco, Bojan, and Echevarría at the island airport
While it’s still unclear whether they will meet with the player, it is believed the three will also reunite with Barça head coach, Hansi Flick, who owns a home in Formentera. Nico potential arrival would require a significant departure from the squad, and the meeting could help determine which exit would best accommodate the Athletic Club winger.
Williams Earns His Spot to Wear Blaugrana
At 22 years old, Nico Williams has overtaken Luis Díaz (28) in the race to reinforce Barça left wing. The Athletic Club player offer to join Hansi Flick team has had an immediate effect, placing him at the top of the club transfer shortlist.
Nico Changes Barça Transfer Plans
Initially, Luis Díaz of Liverpool was the favorite. However, Nico emergence and the more favorable conditions surrounding his signing combined with Liverpool unwillingness to negotiate have now made the Spanish international the leading candidate.
Joan Laporta has also welcomed Williams renewed interest in joining the club, lifting the veto he had imposed after the player decision to back out last summer. Unlike the Liverpool case, Barça doesn’t need to negotiate with Athletic Club: paying his $66 million release clause would be enough. Furthermore, Nico is reportedly willing to reduce the salary previously discussed with Barça another decisive factor in finalizing the deal.
