Camp Nou Reborn: Barça Announces Return with the Gamper and Sparks Excitement Among Fans
After more than two years of works, Barça returns to its temple to compete for the Joan Gamper Trophy on August 10.
When does Barcelona returns home?
FC Barcelona has officially confirmed its return to the Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday, August 10, for the traditional Joan Gamper Trophy, though the rival has yet to be announced. After more than two years of renovations, the stadium will reopen with a reduced capacity of 25,000 spectators — pending official confirmation from the club — and will feature a series of special activities to be unveiled in the coming weeks.
A test run for the new blaugrana temple
After spending the last couple of years at Montjuïc due to construction, the blaugranas are finally heading back home. The stadium will welcome fans with a provisional capacity of around 60,000, newly refurbished stands, and an experience designed to reconnect with the city. While the third tier, roof, and VIP areas remain under construction, Camp Nou will once again come alive.
“Tornem a casa, vibrem” campaign
Under the slogan “We’re coming home, let’s feel it”, the club launched a large-scale media campaign with city-wide activations, emotional video content, and tributes to season ticket holders who supported the team at Montjuïc. The campaign concluded with light projections featuring legendary Barça figures like Ronaldinho, Deco, Stoichkov, Cruyff, and of course, Lionel Messi.
More than a return: a leap toward 2026
Though construction won't be fully completed until 2026, this partial reopening — which has already passed UEFA, fire department, and city inspections — marks both an emotional and strategic milestone for Hansi Flick and his team. With it, Barça aims to reconnect with Barcelona itself and strengthen support for the Espai Barça project, which will completely revamp the historic area surrounding the legendary home of the Catalan giants.
