Ancelotti’s First Brazil Squad Leaked: Neymar’s Return Headlines a New Era
Carlo Ancelotti, still at the helm of Real Madrid, is already preparing for his next chapter—as head coach of the Brazil national team, leading them into the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. After a disappointing club season, the Italian tactician is turning the page with a fresh and ambitious blueprint for the Seleção, which is set to begin in June with matches against Ecuador and Paraguay.
A New Era Full of Surprises
According to Globoesporte, a provisional 50-man list has been leaked, showcasing the early ideas of Ancelotti's reign. The final squad will be trimmed down to 23 players, but even the initial names offer big headlines.
The biggest surprise? Neymar. The Al-Hilal forward, sidelined for months due to injury, is reportedly set for an emotional return. Another notable inclusion is Oscar, who hasn't featured for Brazil in years.
Also drawing attention is Igor Paixão—the Feyenoord forward who has impressed with 18 goals and 19 assists in the Eredivisie and could earn his first senior call-up.
LaLiga Stars and Local Talent in the Mix
Unsurprisingly, Ancelotti seems set to rely on familiar faces from his Madrid days: Vinícius Jr., Rodrygo, and rising star Endrick. The list is also expected to include Raphinha, a standout performer for FC Barcelona, who has scored five goals in El Clásico clashes this season.
Brazil’s domestic league is also well represented. Six Flamengo players are reportedly in contention: Wesley, Léo Ortiz, Gerson, Alex Sandro, Pedro, and Danilo, who previously played under Ancelotti at Real Madrid.
Presentation and Official Call-Up Dates
According to O Globo, Ancelotti will be officially unveiled as Brazil’s head coach on May 26, just one day after managing his final match with Real Madrid. His first official squad list is expected to be announced that same day.
However, the final list of 23 players will only be confirmed on June 23, in accordance with FIFA regulations, which require national federations to notify clubs in advance for player release.
