‘Dibu’ Martínez Visits Barcelona and Sparks Speculation About His Future
As the 2024/25 season nears its end with the Champions League, Conference League, and the newly introduced Club World Cup still to be played several players are already making moves ahead of the upcoming transfer window. One of them is Emiliano ‘Dibu’ Martínez, current Aston Villa goalkeeper and Argentina international.

‘Dibu’ Touches Down in Catalonia
On Monday, Martínez was spotted arriving at Josep Tarradellas Airport in Barcelona, accompanied by his wife and children. The images, captured by sports outlet Jijantes, quickly fueled speculation about his next move.
While sources close to the player insist he is merely on a family vacation, the timing of the visit has raised eyebrows especially considering that his agent, Jorge Mendes, is also in the Catalan capital, currently involved in negotiations with FC Barcelona over Lamine Yamal contract renewal and Ansu Fati potential move to AS Monaco.
A Change of Scenery?
Martínez name has been linked to Barcelona in recent weeks, as the club seeks to reinforce its goalkeeping options with top-tier talent. Despite being under contract with Aston Villa until June 2029, the 32-year-old has hinted at his desire to take the next step in his career.
He has received lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia, but the Argentine goalkeeper is reportedly focused on staying in European football. With the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, Martínez is determined to remain at the highest level of competition.
For now, his visit to Barcelona may just be a coincidence… but in football, every detail can be a clue.
