"Cristiano wanted to prove he was stronger than all of Madrid"
Cristiano Ronaldo's time at Real Madrid was filled with successes and glories to celebrate, lifting four Champions League titles, two Spanish Leagues, and two Copa del Rey trophies, among others. With all the titles he won at Real Madrid, Cristiano left the club on a high note, making it clear what he represented for the Madridistas.
Later on, Cristiano moved to Juventus in Turin, where he met and played alongside Giorgio Chiellini, who recently spoke on the "BSMT" podcast about what the Portuguese star was like. "His personality in difficult moments impressed me. In the first year, he wanted to shake the world and prove he was stronger than the entire Real Madrid," Chiellini assured.
Additionally, the Italian spoke about that Champions League disappointment when Juventus was eliminated in the round of 16 by Ajax, stating that if Cristiano and the team had reached the final that season, they would have won thanks to the Portuguese.
"We were unlucky with injuries and lost against Ajax. If we had reached the final, he would have led us to victory," the Italian affirmed.
On the other hand, he also confessed that age caught up with Cristiano, and he could no longer be the "savior" of the team. "In the following years, the level dropped a bit, and with age, he couldn't carry the team alone anymore. He was the icing on the cake, but he needed a bigger cake," commented the former Juventus player.
To conclude, Chiellini highlighted and thanked Cristiano Ronaldo for everything he brought to the team and for arriving with the best attitude after so many years of glory in Madrid. "I could appreciate it. He's a player like a 'multinational', but he fit well into the group. He's not like the others, he can't be. You can't ask him to have an aperitif in the city center, but he never failed when it was necessary. Not even at team dinners. He's respectful, almost obsessive about taking care of his body and his preparation. He wants to score and win. It was an honor to be his captain at Juventus and to live every day with a champion like him," the Italian concluded.
