Investments in player and city development: Morocco seeks to make history
All the excitement of AFCON 2025 exclusively on beIN Sports.
After 22 years, Morocco reaches its seventh match in the Africa Cup of Nations
For the first time since 1976, Morocco could win the title again, a clear sign of the country's commitment to improving and promoting its football.
The Moroccan National Team's Recent Growth
During the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Morocco surprised the world by reaching the semifinals. But they didn't stop there; they also won bronze at the 2024 Olympic Games and were crowned world champions at the U-20 World Cup last year.
Women's football is also experiencing exponential growth. The Moroccan national team was runner-up in the Africa Cup of Nations and qualified for the U-20 and U-17 World Cups for the first time.
The various sports projects in Moroccan football are proving successful.
A significant portion of the investment went towards the construction of a state-of-the-art sports complex and top-tier facilities. Furthermore, as current coach Regragui described, they have a policy of recruiting players from across Europe who belong to the Moroccan diaspora. All of these players bring new methods and techniques to the game, given their diverse backgrounds.

A committee of experts to develop skills
The Moroccan national team has also incorporated a committee of experts to help guide its development program. All of this is with the ultimate goal of becoming the first African nation in history to win a World Cup, something they came very close to achieving in Qatar four years ago and which they could accomplish in the near future.
