Morocco and Brahim Díaz dominate Cameroon on home soil
Backed by a passionate home crowd in Rabat, Morocco lived up to their favorites tag with a convincing 2-0 victory over Cameroon to book their place in the AFCON semifinals
Backed by a passionate home crowd in Rabat, Morocco lived up to their favorites tag with a convincing 2-0 victory over Cameroon to book their place in the AFCON semifinals. The hosts controlled the match from start to finish, both in possession and without the ball, and never required a single save from Yassine Bounou.
Morocco remain unbeaten in the tournament and will face either Algeria or Nigeria next, with a place in the final at stake.
Brahim Díaz continues his decisive run
Brahim Díaz once again proved decisive, scoring his fifth goal of the tournament and strengthening his status as Morocco’s standout performer. The Real Madrid midfielder opened the scoring by bundling the ball home after a header from El Kaabi, following a corner delivered by Achraf Hakimi.

The goal felt inevitable given Morocco’s dominance, as they played almost exclusively in the opposition half, pressing high and limiting Cameroon’s attacking options. The visitors were further disrupted by an early injury to Tchamadeu.
Late clincher seals a comfortable win
Despite total control, the decisive second goal arrived in the 74th minute, when Saibari latched onto a loose ball from a corner and fired home a powerful strike to make it 2-0. Cameroon offered little in attack, aside from two penalty appeals involving Bryan Mbeumo and substitute Etta Eyong, one of which appeared to involve a punishable elbow but went unawarded.
Morocco have now scored eight goals in the competition, with five coming from Brahim Díaz, as they continue their confident march through the Africa Cup of Nations.
