The future of African football takes center stage in Morocco
The next generation of African football stars is ready to take over the spotlight as the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations officially kicks off in Morocco. Over the next few weeks, some of the continent’s best young talents will compete not only for the title, but also for a place at the 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Africa’s best young players battle for glory
The best young African players are in action in Morocco in the AFCON U-17 tournament.
beIN SPORTS is returning to Morocco for the Men's Africa Cup of Nations U-17 tournament starting on Wednesday May 13th. The 16th edition of this competition brings together the best young African players in the world with the prerequisite that all players in the tournament must be born on 1 January 2009 or later.
Qualification for the World Cup is on the line
16 teams have qualified and will be divided into four groups of four. There is a double reward for the two teams that finish at the top of their respective groups. Not only will they reach the knockout stage of AFCON U-17, but they will also qualify for the 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Morocco enters as the team to beat
Morocco will be the team to beat, as both the hosts and also the reigning champions from 2025. However, there will be plenty of tough competition to come over the next three weeks with other big hitters of the continent taking part such as Egypt, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Senegal, and Ghana.
