A resurgent Cameroon takes on the mighty Morocco in an AFCON quarterfinal thriller

The team that has hard the hardest route through AFCON 20025 so far is undoubtably Cameroon. The Indomitable Lions faced Ivory Coast in the group stages and then had to face and defeat one of the tournament favorites, South Africa, in the Last 16.

Both challenges were overcome but an even harder one awaits on Friday as Cameroon take on Morocco, the tournament hosts and the strongest nation in Africa football. That tantalizing clash in Rabat is live on beIN SPORTS.

The key to success for Cameroon, as well as world-class players such as the midfield pair Bryan Mbeumo and Carlos Baleba, has been mental strength, despite a chaotic build-up to the tournament. “The boys showed they could withstand the pressure of the match,” said Cameroon coach, David Pagou, after the South Africa victory.

Morocco also had a trying test in the Last 16, but unexpectedly so, with a tense, narrow 1-0 victory over Tanzania. The scorer of that winning goal (now his fourth at AFCON) is Brahim Diaz, who says that there are no easy games at the tournament.

“Every game in the AFCON is difficult,” explained the Real Madrid forward, “teams play very narrow and sit back with a lot of players, making it hard to create chances.” 

While Cameroon has had a trial by fire already at AFCON 2025, Morocco is facing a first true test of its title credentials in Friday’s rumble in Rabat.
