All the excitement of AFCON 2025 exclusively on beIN Sports, starting December 21.
Early Egyptian Dominance
The Pharaohs started with incredible intensity, catching the Ivorian defense off guard within the opening minutes. Omar Marmoush broke the deadlock in the 4th minute with a clinical strike from the edge of the area. Egypt continued to apply pressure, and their efforts were rewarded in the 32nd minute when Rami Rabia rose highest to head home a corner delivered by Salah, doubling the lead.

The Elephants' Response
Just before the break, Ivory Coast found a lifeline. A cross into the box led to an unfortunate own goal by Ahmed Fattouh in the 41st minute, shifting the momentum in favor of the Elephants. However, Egypt regained their two-goal cushion early in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Mohamed Salah finished a brilliant low cross from Emam Ashour to make it 3–1.
A Tense Finale
Ivory Coast refused to go down without a fight. Guela Doué pulled one back in the 73rd minute, setting up a frantic final twenty minutes. Despite heavy pressure from the Ivorian side and several close calls, the Egyptian defense, led by goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy, held firm.
With this result, Hossam Hassan’s men eliminate the reigning champions and move one step closer to a record eighth continental title.
