In a closely contested match from the start, Cameroon and Gambia faced each other with their best possible line-ups, aiming to provide the best spectacle. On one hand, Cameroon sought to qualify for the Round of 16 either as the second or third-place team in Group C. On the other hand, Gambia's aspiration was solely to defeat Cameroon and hope to qualify for the Round of 16 as the best third-placed team in the tournament.

In an intense match with a flurry of goals in the final part of the game, Cameroon defeated Gambia 3-2, securing a victory that propelled them to the second place in Group C, aided by Guinea's loss to Senegal.
During the game, there were many emotions, but no goals until the second half, where a goal fest unfolded from both teams.

The first goal came at the 56th minute courtesy of Karl Toko Ekambi, who with a header put Cameroon's Indomitable Lions ahead, making it 1-0.
Later, at the 76th minute, Gambia equalized with a shot inside the box by Ablie Jallow.
In the final stretch of the match, Gambia took the lead for the first time, scoring 2-1 at the 85th minute with a masterful triangulation finished by Ebrima Colley. However, two minutes later, and with a stroke of luck, Cameroon leveled the score at 2-2 in the 87th minute with an own goal by James Gomez, setting the stage for an exciting finish.
Nevertheless, Cameroon did not give up and scored the decisive goal at 3-2 in the 91st minute with a miraculous header by Christopher Wooh, who celebrated fervently for the miraculous victory of the Cameroonian team.
With this result, Cameroon qualifies for the Round of 16 as the second-placed team in Group C; on the other hand, Gambia bids farewell to AFCON 2023 with a commendable performance in the final match.
