Senegal secured its first victory in the AFCON 2027 Qualifiers after defeating Ethiopia 1-0 at Bahir Dar National Stadium.
After a 1-1 draw against Mozambique in their opening match, the Lions of Teranga needed all three points to avoid losing ground in Group J.
The difference came during the first half when Ibrahim Mbaye found the back of the net to score the only goal of the match and put the Senegalese side ahead.
Ethiopia tried to respond in front of its home supporters, but Senegal managed to protect its narrow advantage and secure three important points on the road.
The result also represents Patrick Vieira's first victory as Senegal head coach, after his official debut ended in a draw against Mozambique.
