Cameroon vs Comoros | 2027 AFCON Qualifiers
Cameroon made a strong start to their road to AFCON 2027 with a 3-1 win over Comoros. David Roy Nyengue, Bryan Mbeumo and Danny Namaso scored for the hosts in Garoua.
Cameroon got off to a strong start on their road through the AFCON 2027 Qualifiers. The Indomitable Lions defeated Comoros 3-1 in Garoua and made a strong impression in their first qualifying match.
The team coached by David Pagou took the initiative from the start and got their reward before halftime. David Nyengue found the net in the 39th minute to make it 1-0, giving Cameroon the lead heading into the break.
Bryan Mbeumo steps up to make it 2-0
The second half started in the best possible way for the hosts. Just minutes after the restart, Bryan Mbeumo appeared to extend the lead and make it 2-0 for Cameroon.
The goal was especially significant given the role Mbeumo is taking within the national team. The Manchester United forward was named captain for the match and responded with a goal at a crucial moment. With his pace and presence in attack, he once again showed why he is one of Cameroon’s key players.
Comoros pull one back and add pressure
It looked like Cameroon had the match under control, but Comoros quickly responded. Warmed Omari scored in the 51st minute to make it 2-1, bringing some uncertainty back to a game that had been firmly in the hosts’ favor.
The goal forced Cameroon to stay alert. Comoros tried to build on the momentum and search for an equalizer, but the hosts did not allow the match to slip away. As the minutes went by, Cameroon found more space and regained control of the game.
Danny Namaso seals Cameroon’s victory
With Comoros still looking for a chance to level the score, Danny Namaso struck in the 81st minute to make it 3-1 and effectively put the match beyond reach. The forward made the most of another Cameroon attack and put the final result firmly in the hands of the Indomitable Lions.
With the result, Cameroon earn their first three points in the AFCON 2027 Qualifiers and make a positive start on their road to the tournament, which will be held in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Goals from David Nyengue, Bryan Mbeumo and Danny Namaso were enough to see off Comoros and give the team plenty to celebrate in Garoua. The journey is only beginning, but Cameroon have already shown they intend to be a force to watch.
