The match started at a frantic pace. Just five minutes in, Ange Tia opened the scoring for Mali, but Cape Verde responded almost immediately. In the 10th minute, Sidny Lopes Cabral took a free kick that found the back of the net with the help of a deflection off the wall, making it 1-1.
Before halftime, Mali regained the lead. In the 39th minute, Dorgeles Nene found the net to make it 2-1 and send the hosts into the locker room with the advantage.
Nene Seals the Victory
In the second half, Cape Verde tried to respond, but a costly mistake from Vozinha ultimately put the game away. Nene capitalized on the goalkeeper's error to score his second goal of the night and complete the 3-1 victory.
With the result, Mali collects its first three points in the AFCON 2027 Qualifiers, while Cape Verde begins its campaign with a defeat on the road.
