How to Watch: Saudi Arabia in Asian 2026 World Cup Qualification
In 2022 FIFA World Cup, Saudi Arabia pulled off one of the greatest shocks in the tournament's history by defeating the future champions, Argentina, in the group stages.
The Green Falcons are now chasing their third successive World Cup qualification to be one of the 48 elite teams in North America in 2026. However, there is still a lot of work to do for Saudi Arabia, as the 2026 Asian FIFA World Cup qualifiers reach the business end.
There are just two match days remaining in the latest phase of qualification. Japan have already qualified at the top of Saudi Arabia’s group, however the second spot to go directly through to 2026 is still up for grabs. But time is running out.
Australia holds second place in the group, three points above Saudi Arabia and with a superior goal difference of plus nine. Saudi Arabia will need Australia to drop points in Thursday's match against Japan, defeat Bahrain themselves and then beat the Socceroos next Tuesday in what could be an ultimate face-off to reach the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
