Ansu Fati Recalls That He Was Better Than Lamine Yamal and Shines at as Monaco Far From Barcelona: Will He Be Able to Sneak Into the 2026 World Cup With Spain?
In one way or another, Ansu Fati found no place at FC Barcelona, which led to his move to Ligue 1 with AS Monaco. The player once hailed as a global prodigy (before Lamine Yamal’s rise) was plagued by persistent injuries that limited his minutes, making his stay with the Blaugrana untenable.
His loan move to French football didn’t spark much optimism, even among the most hopeful fans, but the former Spain international is silencing critics, and Barcelona may be rubbing their hands in anticipation.
Ansu Fati: Unstoppable and Prolific in France
Fati has scored five goals in two matches, tying for the Ligue 1 top scorer spot with Joaquín Panichelli. He’s making the most of his loan spell, which includes a purchase option of just over $14 million. His performance last Sunday, where he scored twice from the penalty spot to secure a draw for AS Monaco, highlights his impact in France, though some argue it’s still too early to say he’s regained his peak form.
Fati has also set a new record, becoming the fastest player to score five goals in Ligue 1 since 1948, doing so in 126 minutes, surpassing Johan Audel’s mark of 137 minutes with Valenciennes.
The big question for many is, first and foremost, whether Fati can stay fully healthy. If he maintains this level, could he earn a spot with Spain for the next World Cup? Players in top form are ideal for such competitions.
