Roscoe, Lewis Hamilton’s Bulldog, Is in a Coma: The Driver Misses Pirelli Test and Asks for Support on Social Media
Lewis Hamilton is going through one of the toughest moments of his life: his dog Roscoe is in a coma. The seven-time world champion skipped Ferrari’s Pirelli test to stay by his side and is asking fans for prayers.
Hamilton’s Emotional Update Breaks the Internet
Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton is living through one of the most painful moments of his career — but this time, it has nothing to do with racing. His beloved bulldog, Roscoe, is in a coma after suffering another severe bout of pneumonia.
Hamilton took to Instagram to share the devastating news with his millions of followers, writing:
“Please keep Roscoe in your thoughts. He caught pneumonia again and was struggling to breathe. He was admitted to the hospital and sedated while they ran tests. During the process, his heart stopped. They managed to bring him back, but now he’s in a coma.”
The British star admitted that the situation remains critical and that tomorrow will be a key day: “We don’t know if he’s going to wake up from this. Tomorrow we’ll try to wake him. I’m by his side and I want to thank everyone for your prayers and support.”
Why Hamilton Missed Ferrari’s Pirelli Test
Hamilton’s decision to skip Ferrari’s Pirelli tire test at Mugello was officially attributed to “personal reasons” — but now we know those reasons were heartbreaking. Ferrari allowed him to stay home with Roscoe, showing full support for their driver.
With Hamilton absent, Ferrari called on reserve driver Guanyu Zhou to take his place alongside Charles Leclerc during the testing session. Zhou’s surprise return to a Formula 1 cockpit came after being left without a seat following the end of his contract with Sauber.
Roscoe: F1’s Most Famous Dog
Roscoe isn’t just a pet — he’s a paddock superstar. For years, he has accompanied Hamilton to races around the world, complete with his own paddock pass and private jet trips. The vegan bulldog has over 1.3 million Instagram followers and has become a fan favorite, often stealing the spotlight in behind-the-scenes F1 content.
Hamilton has previously opened up about how Roscoe helps him cope with stress and anxiety, calling him a “best friend” and a source of emotional support through the highs and lows of racing.

A Community Rallies Behind Hamilton
The news of Roscoe’s condition has sparked an outpouring of support across the Formula 1 community. Fans, fellow drivers, and even rival teams have flooded social media with messages of encouragement for Hamilton and his furry companion.
Hamilton promised to keep everyone updated and is clearly focused on one thing right now: being there for Roscoe in this fight for his life.
