Lando Norris Wins the Sprint in the Miami GP
Lando Norris, the reigning world champion, claimed victory in this weekend’s Sprint in Miami. After securing pole position for Saturday, no one was able to catch him. The Brit dominated the short race from start to finish, making it clear he is regaining his best form and is determined to break Mercedes’ dominance at the start of the season.
Total Dominance by Norris in Miami
This marked the first win of the season for Lando Norris, and the fourth Sprint victory of his career. McLaren showed a much stronger and more competitive version, gaining ground on Mercedes, which finished fourth with George Russell and fifth with Kimi Antonelli.
Second place went to his teammate, Oscar Piastri, completing a great result for McLaren. The podium was rounded out by Charles Leclerc with Ferrari, a positive sign for the Italian team, which has shown clear progress and improved consistency this season.
McLaren Finds Its Way After a Tough Start
The start of the year was not easy for McLaren. In Australia, Lando Norris finished fifth; in China, he failed to finish; and in Japan, he once again placed fifth. On the other side of the garage, Oscar Piastri also had a difficult start, retiring in both Australia and China, although he managed a second-place finish in Japan.
However, this result in Miami shows that the British team is beginning to find the right path. Both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri had expressed concerns regarding energy management and the new regulations, factors that made adapting to the car difficult in the early rounds.
The nearly month-long break without racing appears to have been key. McLaren used that time to work on adjustments and improve the car’s performance, something that was evident in the Sprint held in Miami.
Now, both drivers are aiming for a strong qualifying session to fight for victory on Sunday. The challenge will be enormous, especially against a highly competitive Mercedes, but McLaren seems to have come alive at just the right moment.
