Franco Colapinto and Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez Will Have a Visit From Lionel Messi at the Miami Grand Prix of Formula 1
Three major figures from motorsport and football could meet at the Miami Grand Prix after the break in competition activities
The forced break and a new opportunity
The Formula One Miami Grand Prix is shaping up to be one of the year's major events, following the forced hiatus caused by external circumstances that prevented the Bahrain and Saudi Arabia Grands Prix from taking place. There is considerable anticipation regarding changes to the regulations, as well as the opportunity for certain teams to regain ground during this break. Amidst all this excitement, next Sunday, May 3, the premier motorsport competition will feature a special guest, as confirmed by Argentine media: Lionel Messi will be in attendance to watch Franco Colapinto race.
A visit from someone special
According to Argentine journalist Fernando Svaluto, the Argentine national team's number ten and World Cup champion will be present at the circuit, taking advantage of the fact that he has Sunday off due to playing against Orlando City the day before.
An unprecedented meeting
This event will bring together three major figures from Latin American sports in one place. From the world of motorsport, we have Franco Colapinto representing Argentina and the new generation of drivers, while Sergio 'Checo' Pérez is making his return to Formula One this season and will be looking to establish himself with his debut team. Outside of the world of sports, he will be visiting Lionel Messi. Messi and Checo had already met once before, in 2018, when the Mexican driver went to watch Barcelona play and had the opportunity to meet the soccer player; however, this would be the first time he would meet the up-and-coming Argentine driver.
