Ferrari Ignores Rumors and Renews Fred Vasseur’s Contract Despite Lack of Results
In the midst of a winless season and strong rumors about his departure, Ferrari renews Fred Vasseur's contract as team principal to lead the new era of F1 in 2026.
Ferrari defies media pressure and renews Vasseur's contract
Ferrari has once again defied Formula 1 logic: despite not having won a single race this season, it confirmed on Thursday that Fred Vasseur's contract as team principal has been renewed. The decision comes after weeks of rumors, internal pressure, and critical scrutiny from the Italian media.
No victories, but with “vision and determination”
Charles Leclerc, one of the team's leading figures, was clear: “Fred knows how to stay calm when everyone else is getting worked up. He has a clear vision and doesn't get carried away by the noise.”
With Christian Horner out of Red Bull and strong ties to the president of Ferrari, many thought the Briton was close to taking control of the Cavallino. However, with Vasseur's signing, those possibilities are fading... at least for now.
Ferrari did not specify the duration of the contract, although it is a “multi-year agreement” that would keep him at the helm during the early years of the new F1 technical regulations. This means that Vasseur will be responsible for leading the ambitious project that brings Leclerc and Hamilton together at the highest level.
