Checo Perez says no one understands this Formula 1
Mexican driver Sergio Pérez offered a blunt assessment of modern Formula One, saying rule changes have made the sport so complicated that “no one understands it,” including drivers and engineers.
Mexican driver Sergio Pérez offered a blunt assessment of modern Formula One, saying rule changes have made the sport so complicated that “no one understands it,” including drivers and engineers.
Perez argued the growing role of electric power and energy recovery has fundamentally changed racing and made the cars less enjoyable to drive.
“The cars are not as fun as they used to be,” he said.
Why Checo says the sport has become too complex
Perez explained the new regulations have created unpredictable speed differences and added confusion even inside the cockpit.
He noted there are moments when one car can be 80 or 90 kilometers per hour faster than another without a clear explanation, something he described as difficult for drivers to interpret.
He added that adapting to this environment remains a challenge for every team.
