Checo Pérez loses Williams option for 2027
The future of Sergio “Checo” Pérez has once again become one of the main talking points surrounding the Formula 1 driver market.
In recent weeks, several reports linked the Mexican driver with Williams as a possible option for the 2027 season, amid a difficult campaign for Cadillac and potential changes within the British team.
Williams sets its plans for 2027
Williams first secured the continued presence of Alex Albon and later confirmed a multi-year contract extension for Carlos Sainz, effectively filling both of its seats for next season.
The decision means that the possibility of seeing Checo Pérez in Williams colors has lost momentum, at least unless there is an unexpected change in the team’s plans.

Cadillac responds to the rumors
Marcin Budkowski, the team’s new leader, recently highlighted the importance of having experienced drivers such as Pérez and Valtteri Bottas in a project that is still taking its first steps in Formula 1.
Dan Towriss, the project’s CEO, also publicly expressed confidence that Checo will remain with Cadillac, insisting that the team is not concerned about reports linking him with Williams.
What’s next for Checo Pérez?
With Williams seemingly out of the picture, Checo Pérez remaining with Cadillac once again appears to be the most likely scenario heading into 2027.
The Mexican driver has a multi-year agreement with the American team and, so far, neither side has announced any intention of ending their relationship early. Reports of a possible move to another team have largely remained within the realm of driver-market speculation.
