Cadillac reveals the date of “Checo” Pérez’s Formula 1 comeback announcement
Formula 1 fans remain on edge about what will happen with Sergio "Checo" Pérez. At this point in the season, it was expected that Cadillac would announce at least one of its drivers for the 2026 grid, but there are no clear indications yet.
Under this scenario, one of the names generating the most buzz was the Mexican driver, who is currently a free agent after his departure from Red Bull Racing.
Cadillac and "Checo" reportedly have an agreement
The announcement of "Checo" Pérez joining the debuting team could come sooner than expected, possibly right after the current four-week break, according to Thomas Maher of PlanetF1.
Based on information from the Formula 1 specialized outlet, the American team has reportedly reached an agreement with the Mexican driver, with only the signing of the contract pending before an announcement is made during the Italian Grand Prix weekend, which takes place the first weekend of September.
“Multiple sources have told PlanetF1.com that Pérez has reached an agreement with Cadillac that will see him return to the grid, with an announcement expected during the Italian Grand Prix weekend in Monza,” the outlet reported.
Will Christian Horner also join Cadillac?
Christian Horner is currently a free agent after stepping down from his role as CEO of Red Bull Racing. He is another figure rumored to join Cadillac, where two old acquaintances could reunite.
