Max Verstappen Turns Heads Off the Track with the Purchase of a Yacht Worth Over $12 Million
The Dutch Red Bull Racing driver is gearing up for the Monaco Grand Prix by debuting a luxurious custom yacht.

As he prepares for one of the most glamorous and demanding weekends on the Formula 1 calendar, Max Verstappen is once again in the spotlight—this time off the track. The current two-time world champion has acquired an exclusive luxury yacht valued at over $12 million, cementing his status not only as a force on the circuit but also as a prominent global sports figure.
A Sea Lion Cruises Through the Principality
According to renowned Formula 1 photographer Kym Illman, Verstappen recently received his new vessel, a Mangusta GranSport 33, at the Italian port of Viareggio, home to the Overmarine shipyard. Accompanied by his partner, Kelly Piquet, the Dutch driver welcomed his new yacht, named Unleash the Lion—a direct nod to his personal brand and the initials he also uses on his private jet.
The yacht features five cabins, cutting-edge design, and top-tier amenities. It was commissioned two years ago and, while its base price hovers around $12 million, the customizations requested by Verstappen are believed to have significantly increased its final cost. The annual maintenance for such a vessel also underscores its exclusivity—estimated at over $1.2 million.
Privacy: A Luxury Max Is Willing to Pay For
Unlike other drivers who dock their yachts in Monaco’s iconic port, Verstappen has opted for Cap d’Ail, a neighboring town that offers greater privacy and is close to the homes of several F1 drivers.

Successful on and off the Track
The yacht acquisition comes just ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix, one of the most anticipated events of the year for drivers and fans alike. As he prepares to tackle the demanding streets of the principality, Verstappen proves his dominance extends into the world of luxury and lifestyle.
With projected earnings of $78 million in 2025, according to Forbes, the Dutchman is poised to be one of the highest-paid athletes on the planet. At just 27 years old, Verstappen continues to expand his influence both on and off the track—from the tight corners of Monte Carlo to the waters of the French Riviera, his profile only continues to rise.
