Charles Leclerc has pledged to do his utmost to bring the Formula One world championship back to Ferrari after signing a new contract with the team. 

Ferrari announced Leclerc's fresh terms on Wednesday, and though they did not specify the length of his deal, reports suggest it will run until the end of 2028.

Leclerc is into his ninth season with the Scuderia, having joined in 2019 after one campaign with Sauber. He has won eight races and managed 52 podium finishes with the team. 

He finished an underwhelming fifth in the 2025 drivers' championship standings, but he currently sits third in the 2026 competition after five races, with Ferrari showing a vast improvement following regulation changes.

And, after penning his new deal, the Monegasque driver outlined his ambition to be their first championship-winning driver since Kimi Raikkonen in 2007.

"I couldn't be happier to continue this journey with Scuderia Ferrari HP. It has always been so much more than just a team to me," he told their website.

"It's the team I've loved and dreamed of being part of since I was a child, and after all these years, it has become a second family.

"Together we've shared incredible moments and some tougher ones, but I believe in this team more than ever, and I'm deeply grateful that we will keep pushing side by side toward our shared goal of bringing the world championship back to Maranello.

"Being a Ferrari driver is a dream, but it's also a responsibility I never take for granted."

Leclerc will hope to cut the gap to the top two in the driver's standings – Mercedes duo Kimi Antonelli and George Russell – when the season resumes with his home event this weekend, the Monaco Grand Prix.
