George Russell admits he is "p***** off" with the reliability issues that have plagued him all season, saying he has never endured a Formula One campaign like this one.

Going into the F1 mid-season break, Russell sits third in the drivers' championship standings on 160 points, 59 adrift of his team-mate Kimi Antonelli and nine behind Lewis Hamilton.

Russell was talked about as a title contender at the start of 2026, having opened the season with a victory at the Australian Grand Prix.

But his form has been up-and-down since then, having retired from two of the last seven races as well as recording finishes of 12th and seventh in that period.

At Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix, Russell started in sixth, but an engine issue caused his car to go into anti-stall at the start of the race, dropping him to the back of the grid.

Russell eventually recovered to finish seventh, but he was left to rue his poor fortune afterwards. 

"Obviously, the problems are happening, but the whole team feels it as well. They're as p****d off as I am, with how it's unfolded," Russell told Sky Sports F1.

"We need to look at ourselves and ensure it's nothing we're doing wrong that is contributing to these errors. 

"Oscar [Piastri] had his [gearbox issue] as well. So it's not like we're the only ones, but it does feel like it is happening substantially more to me than others.

"Hopefully, it swings around. I don't wish any bad luck on anyone.

"But I've never had a season like this in my whole career, let alone my F1 career."

Russell has been frustrated on several occasions this season, with a battery failure forcing him out of the Canadian Grand Prix and a collision with Hamilton ending his race in Belgium.

The F1 campaign resumes with the Dutch Grand Prix on the weekend of August 21 to 23, with races in Monzo and Madrid to follow over the subsequent three weeks.
