Siasarani Reflects On Stellar Performance At ONE Friday Fights 137, Sets Sights On Superbon’s Kickboxing Belt
Iranian fighter Mohammad Siasarani realized his dream on Friday, December 19, when he knocked out former ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Title challenger Jo 'Smokin' Nattawut.
With a devastating combination at ONE Friday Fights 137 to earn a coveted US$100,000 contract and global roster spot. The 23-year-old Iranian survived early adversity inside Bangkok's Lumpinee Stadium before delivering a perfectly timed one-two combo in the second round that ended the contest emphatically. With the spectacular finish, Siasarani has announced himself as a legitimate threat in ONE Championship's stacked featherweight Muay Thai and kickboxing divisions.
Corner Advice Turns The Tide
Mohammad Siasarani found himself in trouble early when "Smokin'" Jo Nattawut landed a cracking right hand that rocked the Iranian striker during the opening frame. The decorated Thai veteran appeared poised to add another knockout to his résumé, using his experience and timing to tag Siasarani repeatedly. The round belonged entirely to Nattawut, leaving the Team Mehdi Zatout product needing to make significant adjustments or risk seeing his contract dreams slip away.
Between rounds, head coach and former ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Title challenger Mehdi Zatout delivered valuable advice that completely changed the fight's trajectory. Rather than allowing his student to continue the same game plan, the veteran coach identified specific adjustments that could exploit openings in Nattawut's defense. Siasarani absorbed every word and implemented the changes immediately when round two began.

The Iranian pressed forward with renewed confidence, focusing on his boxing combinations while maintaining a tighter guard. At the 1:39 mark, Siasarani caught Nattawut with a perfectly executed one-two combination that crumpled the Thai powerhouse and ended the contest in spectacular fashion.
"In the first round, I admit I misjudged the distance a bit, which led to me getting hit and being slightly dazed," Siasarani said. "But when I got back to the corner, my coach told me to change my guard and focus more on my punches. When I entered the second round, I immediately changed my plan, pressing forward with punches until I was able to knock him out.”

The Long-Awaited Breakthrough
Siasarani's knockout victory represented far more than his 27th career triumph – it validated nearly two years of grinding through ONE Championship's developmental platform. Since joining ONE Friday Fights in January 2023, the Iranian striker has been building an impressive résumé while waiting patiently for his opportunity to break through to the global roster.
During that period, Siasarani compiled signature victories over world-class competition that proved he belonged among the division's best. He defeated seven-time Muay Thai and Kickboxing World Champion Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong, Enfusion Champion Mohammed Boutasaa, SHOOT BOXING Champion Kaito Ono, and even Liu Mengyang, who would later shock the world by knocking out Tawanchai PK Saenchai in the ONE Friday Fights 137 main event. Each victory added another credential to his growing reputation.
However, none of those wins carried the same weight as stopping Nattawut. The Thai’s status as one of Thailand's most decorated strikers meant that defeating him – especially by knockout – would force ONE Championship matchmakers to take serious notice. Siasarani seized that opportunity with both hands, delivering the statement performance that earned his promotion to the big leagues.
And just like that, the ONE Friday Fights event series has produced another star.
"I've been waiting for this moment for so long. My whole team, family, and everyone around me have been waiting for this. I'm so happy to have accomplished this, and this is just the beginning of my journey in this major promotion," Siasarani said. "This contract means so much to my life. It will make me more well-known, and my dream is to fight overseas, whether in Japan or Qatar. My ultimate goal is to become the best pound-for-pound fighter in the featherweight division.”
Ready For The Elite
With his global roster spot secured, Siasarani has wasted no time identifying potential opponents in ONE Championship's stacked featherweight divisions. The Iranian striker believes he can compete with anyone at 155 pounds across both Muay Thai and kickboxing, including the sport's biggest names.

Some of those names include reigning ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion Superbon Singha Mawynn, former interim champion and K-1 titleholder Masaaki Noiri, former three-time Glory World Champion Marat Grigorian, and former three-time K-1 Champion Rukiya Anpo. Additionally, a rematch with Rajadamnern Stadium Muay Thai World Champion Shadow Singha Mawynn could provide another opportunity to test himself against Thailand's elite.

However, he has no plans to go toe-to-toe with ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai. Despite the Thai superstar holding the division's most prestigious Muay Thai prize, the Iranian striker has ruled out challenging his friend. Their close relationship transcends competition, and Siasarani prefers pursuing kickboxing gold before considering any potential Muay Thai championship clash.
"I'm ready to face anyone in the featherweight division," Siasarani said. "As for Tawanchai, he's like a big brother that I really respect, so I want to focus on hunting the kickboxing belt first. After that, we can talk about the Muay Thai belt."
