Pompet Faces Decho In ONE Friday Fights 138 Main Event On January 16
ONE Championship launches 2026 with an explosive flyweight Muay Thai showdown, as Thai strikers Pompet PongSuphan PK and Decho Por Borirak collide in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 138 on Friday, January 16. Both warriors will battle inside Bangkok's legendary Lumpinee Stadium for a chance to earn a life-changing US$100,000 contract, making this a must-win clash that could define their careers.
Contract Dreams Collide In Bangkok
ONE Friday Fights 138 opens the promotion’s 2026 event calendar with a compelling showdown, pitting experience against ambition in a flyweight Muay Thai battle that carries massive stakes for both competitors. Pompet PongSuphan PK and Decho Por Borirak will headline the January 16 card, and each man has an opportunity to earn the coveted six-figure contract that would elevate them to ONE Championship's global roster.
The stylistic matchup promises fireworks. Pompet has built a reputation as a dangerous finisher capable of ending fights spectacularly, while Decho has demonstrated the toughness and adaptability to survive adversity and emerge victorious. Neither fighter can afford to play it safe – ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong rewards aggressive, finish-seeking performances with bonuses and even contracts.
This main event represents the perfect opportunity for both men. Pompet needs a statement victory to solidify his case after inconsistent form recently, while Decho seeks the signature win that would validate his potential and announce him as a serious contender.
Veteran Pompet Eyes Breakthrough Performance
Pompet PongSuphan PK brings substantial credentials to this high-stakes encounter, having compiled 109 career victories throughout his journey in Thailand's competitive Muay Thai scene. The PK Saenchai Muaythaigym representative has won seven promotional bouts with four spectacular finishes since making his memorable ONE Championship debut, showcasing the killer instinct that makes him such a dangerous threat.
His promotional journey began at ONE Friday Fights 17 in May 2023, when he demolished Duangsompong Jitmuangnon with a devastating one-punch knockout that immediately captured everyone’s attention. That victory kicked off an impressive opening run that included big wins over Rittidet Sor Sommai and Suriyanlek Por Yenying.
Recent form has been inconsistent for the 27-year-old, who's posted a 3-3 record across his last half-dozen outings. Still, Pompet arrives with confidence after securing consecutive victories over Yodlekpet Or Atchariya and Scottish striker Gregor Thom. The Thom clash last November, in particular, highlighted exactly what makes Pompet so great – he floored the Scotsman three separate times during the second frame before the referee waved off the massacre.
Young Lion Decho Chases Breakthrough Moment
Decho Por Borirak enters the main event showdown in solid form. The Singha Mawynn fighter has accumulated 48 professional victories throughout his career, but none would match the significance of defeating a proven finisher like Pompet in ONE Championship’s first event of 2026.
The 22-year-old made his promotional debut last April at ONE Friday Fights 104, edging Isannuea ChotBangsaen via split decision in a competitive scrap. When the two ran it back two months later in June, the result wasn't close – Decho dominated from start to finish, earning a clear unanimous decision that erased any doubts about their first meeting. The ability to adapt and overwhelm a familiar opponent showed maturity beyond his years.
Things went sideways when Decho stepped up against Suriyanlek at ONE Friday Fights 124. He managed to hurt his opponent late, scoring a knockdown in the final frame. But Suriyanlek had already banked enough damage, dropping Decho twice earlier for eight-counts that sealed the loss. Most fighters would've struggled to recover mentally from that beating, but not Decho. He demanded the rematch in October and left no doubt, controlling all three rounds to exact revenge. With his only loss in ONE Championship already avenged, he is ready for fresh competition at ONE Friday Fights 138.
