ONE Friday Fights 130 Results: Nontachai Jitmuangnon Gets Redemption, Sonrak Fairtex Thrills With Fast Knockout
Thailand's Nontachai Jitmuangnon enjoyed a successful bantamweight debut, as he claimed a majority decision victory over Turkey's Soner "Golden Boy" Sen in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 130 on October 24. The Muay Thai star earned his 51st career victory while moving one step closer to forcing a rematch with Sen’s teammate Abdulla Dayakaev, the only man to defeat him in his ONE Championship career.
Thai star weathers storm to claim nail-biting win
Nontachai Jitmuangnon and Soner Sen opened their bantamweight Muay Thai showdown cautiously. The two measured their distance and timing by trading jabs and leg kicks throughout the opening stanza. Everything heated up in the second round, however.
Sen, who trains out of Team Mehdi Zatout in Pattaya, Thailand, exploded forward with heavy boxing combinations, forcing Nontachai into defensive mode. The Jitmuangnon Gym product circled backward while looking for openings, occasionally darting forward to bury sharp knees into the Turk’s midsection whenever he overcommitted on his attacks.
Those body shots gradually took their toll. As Sen lowered his guard to protect his ribs from further punishment, Nontachai spotted the opening he'd been waiting for. The Thai striker fired a crisp jab straight down the pipe that caught Sen flush, sending the 29-year-old crashing to the canvas for an eight-count.
Sen returned to his feet immediately and showed championship heart, but the 26-year-old smelled blood in the water. The Thai continued pressuring his rival with more knees, keeping his wounded opponent on the defensive for the remainder of the frame.
The final round saw Nontachai shift to counter-fighting mode, while Sen desperately unloaded body hooks in an effort to swing momentum. The late surge wasn’t fruitful, as the judges awarded Nontachai the majority decision victory and brought him one step closer to avenging his only promotional loss to Dayakaev.
Myanmar veteran delivers statement knockout in rematch
Myanmar's Sonrak Fairtex made an emphatic return to the winner's circle, obliterating Yamin PK Saenchai en route to a first-round knockout in their bantamweight Muay Thai thriller.
Yamin controlled the very early exchanges with his length advantage, peppering the Fairtex Training Center representative with push kicks, high kicks, and even a face teep that momentarily frustrated his opponent. But Sonrak bit down on his mouthguard and unleashed his vengeance.
The 28-year-old Myanmar striker responded with a violent high kick, and he followed that up with a punishing two-punch combination that visibly shook Yamin and shifted momentum. The 29-year-old Thai tried resetting himself behind the jab, but that decision led to his downfall
.As Yamin closed distance, Sonrak saw his opportunity and seized it. The Myanmar striker unleashed a devastating right hook that caught his rival flush on the temple, causing him to instantly collapse to the mat.
The referee immediately began his count, but Yamin remained motionless, forcing the stoppage just 83 seconds into the bout. That first-round knockout victory improved Sonrak’s career record to 70-24.
