Pompet Conquers Mental Demons, Rides Momentum Into ONE Friday Fights 138 Showdown With Decho
Thai striker Pompet PongSuphan PK closed out 2025 on a high note and plans to ride that momentum straight into a life-changing contract with ONE Championship
The 27-year-old veteran headlines ONE Friday Fights 138 on January 16 against rising contender Decho Por Borirak in a flyweight Muay Thai clash at Bangkok's Lumpinee Stadium, carrying newfound confidence after finally conquering the mental demons that had haunted him throughout his promotional journey. With 109 career victories and a two-bout winning streak behind him, Pompet believes he's finally peaked at the perfect time to claim that coveted six-figure deal and global roster spot.
Breaking Through Mental Barriers
Pompet PongSuphan PK entered the final months of 2025 determined to string together some momentum and silence doubters questioning his ability to perform under pressure. The fighter, who trains out of the famed PK Saenchai Muaythaigym, accomplished exactly that – first, he settled some unfinished business with Thai rival Yodlekpet Or Atchariya in September, and then he authored a statement-making performance against Scotland's Gregor Thom this past November.
The fight with Thom represented more than just another win – it smashed the mental wall that held him back. He'd struggled against foreign strikers, as their different styles and powerful fists caused Pompet to be hesitant inside the ring. But when he dropped the Scottish fighter three times in the second round with overhand rights and crosses, something finally clicked.

"There was definitely a lot of pressure. I'd never managed to beat a foreigner in this promotion before. Their style is so different from Thai fighters. I was a bit paranoid about his punching power," Pompet said. "Beating him felt like a total unlock for me. It gave me the confidence I needed to handle those heavy-handed foreign strikers. It proved I've leveled up."
Crystal Clear Goals For 2026
The calendar flipped to 2026, but Pompet's objectives remain laser-focused. After compiling seven promotional victories with four spectacular finishes across his ONE Championship journey, he believes the body of work speaks for itself. Now, armed with a two-bout winning streak, the Thai wants to stay the course and make himself impossible to ignore.
Another impressive performance against Decho, particularly if he secures a highlight-reel finish, would strengthen his case dramatically. Pompet understands that ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong rewards fighters who consistently bring excitement, and few things capture attention like jaw-dropping knockouts in main event slots.
"My goal for this year is crystal clear, I want the ONE Championship contract and to compete on the global stage. I've had 11 fights in this promotion, and I always bring the heat. I've paid my dues, my form is peaking, and I want to keep this winning streak going all through the year," Pompet said.
Young Lion Decho Brings Dangerous Challenge
That winning streak faces an immediate test against Decho Por Borirak, the 22-year-old Singha Mawynn product who's won three of his last four promotional bouts and carries the relentless energy that comes with youth. Pompet has studied tape extensively, identifying specific patterns he plans to exploit when opportunities present themselves.
Decho's aggressive brawling style and massive cardio tank make him dangerous throughout all three rounds. His movement impressed Pompet during the Suriyanlek rematch last October, where he displayed improved footwork and fight IQ. However, the veteran also spotted defensive lapses – Decho’s left guard drops when throwing knees, and his preference for high kicks creates counter-striking opportunities.

Pompet does not expect a long, drawn-out chess match. Instead, he anticipates a firefight where each athlete will throw the kitchen sink at one another. He welcomes that chaos, confident his newfound mental strength and physical power will prevail when fists start flying.
"It's going to be a banger. Decho isn't afraid of my hands and he's definitely coming to fight. But my body is ready to trade shots too," Pompet said. "If I see an opening, I want another highlight-reel finish to boost my chances for that ONE Championship contract."
