Ryan Garcia Agrees to Fight Teofimo Lopez and Says He’d Knock Him Out
Ryan Garcia isn’t holding back: he claims he’d be Teofimo Lopez’s kryptonite and would knock him out if they stepped into the ring. The American already has December in sight for his comeback.
Ryan Garcia’s preference has always been clear: he wanted Teofimo Lopez over a rematch with Devin Haney. Now, with Haney focused on his November fight against Brian Norman and after Garcia’s shocking loss to Rolando Romero, the stage appears set for that long-awaited showdown.
During the promotion of The Ring’s triple-header event in Times Square — which featured Garcia vs. Romero, Haney vs. Jose Ramirez, and Lopez vs. Arnold Barboza — it was Garcia and Lopez who stole the spotlight with heated verbal exchanges.
“I’m his kryptonite”
Speaking to The Ring, Garcia was direct:
“If he wants to fight, he should say so. Our styles match up well and I believe I’d knock him out with my punch selection and volume. The way I throw punches, I’d break him down. I’m definitely his kryptonite. I’ve wanted that fight for a long time.”

Garcia (24-2, 20 KOs) plans to return to the ring in December after recovering from surgery on his right hand. Lopez (22-1, 13 KOs), the WBO and The Ring junior welterweight champion, remains inactive after his unanimous decision win over Barboza, with no date or opponent confirmed.
Pacquiao, another name on the list
In addition to Lopez, Garcia also revealed he’d like to face Manny Pacquiao — a fight that, while difficult to make, would add even more intrigue to his return to the ring.
With both fighters currently without immediate commitments, a potential Garcia vs. Lopez bout could become one of boxing’s biggest attractions to close out the year.
