Juan Manuel Márquez Reveals Whether He Will Fight Manny Pacquiao: “We’re Going to Kill Each Other...”
Another Fight Between Juan Manuel Márquez and Manny Pacquiao?
In recent months, rumors have gained traction that a group of promoters is looking to organize an exhibition fight between Juan Manuel Márquez and Manny Pacquiao, two boxing legends who shared one of the most intense and memorable rivalries of the modern era.
The two faced off in four epic battles, leaving an indelible mark on boxing history. The record: two losses, one draw, and a historic knockout victory for “Dinamita” Márquez, forever cementing his place in Mexican boxing lore.
However, in a recent interview with Izquierdazo, Márquez completely dismissed any possibility of facing the Filipino again:
“They’ve told me they want to do an exhibition, but do you think it would really be an exhibition with him? It would never be just an exhibition. And rounds of two minutes? We’d kill each other. Better to leave it as it is…,” stated the former world champion.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao, who returned to the ring a few months ago to face Mario Barrios, recalled his only loss to Márquez during a pre-fight interview with Fight Hub TV:
“He got lucky. I was about to finish him in that round. If not that one, then the next. I got careless, and he landed a lucky shot,” Pac-Man said.
More than a decade after that unforgettable night in Las Vegas, fans still dream of a fifth Márquez-Pacquiao fight. However, it seems the Mexican prefers to preserve his legacy as it stands, with the final word already spoken in the ring.
Manny Pacquiao Nears Deal to Fight “Rolly” Romero
The Filipino boxing legend is close to finalizing an agreement to face Rolando “Rolly” Romero, although two other names are also being considered for his next bout.
According to Mike Coppinger of The Ring, on the latest episode of Inside The Ring, Gervonta Davis and Conor Benn are also on the list of potential opponents for Pacquiao.
Pacquiao ended his retirement this summer, returning to the ring with a majority draw against WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios. However, the eight-division champion’s comeback doesn’t stop there. His next fight is reportedly set for January against Rolando “Rolly” Romero, the current WBA welterweight champion.
If that bout doesn’t materialize, Coppinger notes that Gervonta Davis or Conor Benn could step in.
Meanwhile, Davis is scheduled for an exhibition fight against Jake Paul, which will be streamed live on Netflix on November 14.
