Everything You Need to Know About Tyson Fury’s Return to Boxing
Tyson Fury’s return to the ring is now official. The former heavyweight world champion will fight again on April 11, when he faces dangerous contender Arslanbek Makhmudov in one of the most anticipated boxing events of the year.
The bout was announced on Wednesday by Turki Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, who also confirmed that the fight will be broadcast live on Netflix, marking a historic moment for boxing in the UK.
When and where will Tyson Fury fight?
Fury vs. Makhmudov will take place in the United Kingdom, although the exact venue has yet to be confirmed. It will be Fury’s first fight on British soil since December 2022, when he defeated Derek Chisora for the third time to successfully defend his WBC heavyweight title.
Fury returns after announcing retirement
Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) announced his retirement in January 2025, following his second consecutive defeat to Oleksandr Usyk. However, earlier this month, the “Gypsy King” revealed that his comeback to boxing was imminent.
“I’m excited to be back. My heart has always been, and always will be, in boxing. Somebody tell the king the ace is back,” Fury said.
The opponent: Arslanbek Makhmudov
Fury will face Arslanbek Makhmudov (21-2, 19 KOs), a Russian-born heavyweight based in Canada who has built a reputation as one of the division’s most dangerous punchers. Makhmudov had long been rumored as Fury’s next opponent following his impressive win over Dave Allen last October.
From Saudi Arabia to the Usyk fights
After his last UK appearance, Fury fought three times in Saudi Arabia. He first defeated Francis Ngannou in October 2023 before facing Oleksandr Usyk twice in back-to-back undisputed heavyweight title fights.
Usyk won both bouts on the scorecards in May and December 2024, becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era, a run that prompted Fury to announce his retirement.
Netflix makes history
The fight between Fury and Makhmudov will be Netflix’s first live boxing event in the UK. The streaming platform is also filming Tyson Fury and his family for the second season of “At Home with the Furys”, which is scheduled for release later this year.
