The boxing legend puts behind the fight against Mario Barrios — a bout he believes he won — to enjoy a unique trip with his family in Italy.
Manny Pacquiao has moved on from his latest fight, which marked his return to boxing and sparked divided opinions but ultimately surprised many of his detractors. After his impressive performance against Mario Barrios, he has decided to take a well-deserved vacation.
In recent days, the boxing legend shared his visit to Italy with his family, surprising fans with a particular video that proves he’s still in top shape.
Manny Pacquiao proves he’s still in enviable physical condition
According to his latest posts, the boxer strolled through the streets of Ravello, Italy, where he was seen enjoying quality time with his partner and loved ones.
In his Instagram post, he took a humorous approach to tackling a steep incline, which challenged him to the fullest and is the video in question.
“It’s a good thing I just came back from a boxing match because I’m still in great shape,” he said, a message to the world that could hint at another return to the ring.
A draw that left the Filipino unsatisfied
Nearly 24 years after his unforgettable U.S. debut—when he shocked the world by knocking out Lehlo Ledwaba to win the IBF super featherweight title—Manny Pacquiao returned to the same venue, the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, aiming for another historic moment: becoming the oldest welterweight champion in boxing history.
However, at 46 years old, the Filipino legend fell short of the feat. His fight against Mexican-American Mario Barrios, the current WBC welterweight champion, ended in a majority draw, allowing the champion to retain his belt and leaving Pacquiao without a reward after an intense battle.
Two judges scored it 114-114, while the third gave the edge to Barrios with a 115-113 card. The verdict was a bitter pill for the 13,107 fans in attendance, mostly ardent Pacquiao supporters, who filled the arena hoping for another glorious chapter in his career.
The legendary Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao failed to become the second-oldest world champion in boxing history after drawing with Mario Barrios, the current WBC welterweight champion, on Saturday night.
Pacquiao believed he won his fight against Mario Barrios
The fight, held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas—the same venue where Pacquiao debuted in the U.S. 24 years ago—ended in a majority draw: two judges scored it 114-114, while a third saw Barrios as the winner with a 115-113 card.
At 46, Pacquiao proved he’s still in excellent physical condition and delivered a competitive performance. Over the 12 rounds, he landed 81 power punches, slightly outpacing Barrios’ 75. However, the champion was more accurate overall, connecting on 120 total punches compared to Pacquiao’s 101, with a clear edge in jabs (45 to 20).
“I think I won the fight,” Pacquiao said after the bout, marking his return to the ring after four years of inactivity. “It was a very close fight. I worked hard, stayed disciplined, and I’m always in shape for this.”
