Canelo vs Benavidez Can Only Happen Because of This HUGE SUM of Money
After defeating Jaime Munguía to retain his titles and increase his record (61-2-2), Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez has reportedly set conditions to face David Benavidez.
The condition Canelo set was regarding the purse, stating: “The only thing I see is that Benavidez weighs 25 pounds more than me. I don't have a problem... but if he wants me to fight him, it's $200 million.”
The Mexican boxer also made it clear, “If they pay me double of what I made, then yes. If they pay me the same, why bother...”
The figure seems astronomical, as only Floyd Mayweather Jr. has generated a higher amount in his fights, amassing a total of $309 million in his bout against Manny Pacquiao back in that distant May of 2015. Now only time will tell if we'll witness a great fight between Mexicans.
