On the Showtime podcast with Hall of Famer Michael Cooper, Klay Thompson shared enthusiasm about the Big3’s unique 4-point shot and expressed strong support for the league’s expansion beyond the United States.

Thompson, 35, highlighted how the Big3’s 3-on-3 format appeals to retired NBA stars seeking competitive, fast-paced basketball without the physical toll of 5-on-5 play. He particularly embraced the 4-point shot—a feature that rewards deep shooting accuracy—a skill at which Thompson excels.

“That gets me excited,” Thompson said, “I just want the Big3 to go international, I think that would be so fun to see the Big3 go overseas and do a little tour.”

Cooper, coach of the Miami 305 team and a former NBA champion himself, hinted at imminent plans for Big3’s international tours, signaling a new chapter for the league.

Present Focus and Future Ambitions

While Thompson contemplates his post-NBA path, he remains focused on his current role with the Dallas Mavericks. His veteran leadership complements a roster boosted by rookie Cooper Flagg and two-time NBA champion Anthony Davis.

Thompson spoke highly of Kyrie Irving’s importance to the team, expressing optimism for the squad’s potential once Irving returns from ACL recovery. “We only got to see it for one half last year and I feel like we had a chance to be the best team in the league,” Thompson remarked.
