Historic Deal Signed by Stephen Curry
The Stephen Curry begins a new chapter off the court after agreeing to a massive global partnership.
Stephen Curry is making headlines once again, this time away from basketball courts. The Golden State Warriors superstar has signed one of the most significant endorsement deals in sports history, becoming the new global face of Chinese sportswear giant Li-Ning.
After ending a 13-year partnership with Under Armour in November, Curry became one of the most sought-after free agents in the sports marketing industry. Throughout the final months of the NBA season, he frequently appeared wearing sneakers from different brands, fueling speculation about his next move.
That uncertainty has now come to an end with a reported 10-year agreement worth more than $400 million. The partnership goes beyond basketball footwear and apparel, aiming to expand the global reach of the “Curry Brand” into multiple sectors.
One of the most notable elements of the deal is the development of a dedicated golf product line, reflecting Curry’s well-known passion for the sport. The agreement also grants him the opportunity to recruit and sponsor athletes under his own brand umbrella, significantly increasing his influence within the sporting world.
Reports indicate that Curry turned down several offers from both American and international companies, including at least one proposal that was financially larger than Li-Ning’s offer, before choosing the Chinese brand.
Li-Ning continues to strengthen its position in global basketball and already sponsors players such as Jimmy Butler, CJ McCollum, D'Angelo Russell, Fred VanVleet and NBA legend Dwyane Wade.
