MLB Returns to the Field of Dreams in 2026 With Twins vs. Phillies
Major League Baseball will return to the iconic Iowa venue in 2026, with the Minnesota Twins and Philadelphia Phillies set to headline a special week of baseball.
Major League Baseball is returning to one of its most iconic venues. After four years away, the Field of Dreams in Dyersville, Iowa, will host an official MLB game on Thursday, August 13, 2026, when the Minnesota Twins face the Philadelphia Phillies. The announcement was confirmed by MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred as part of the league's new partnership with Netflix. The game will be streamed exclusively on the platform, marking another important step in MLB's efforts to bring its biggest events to new audiences through streaming.
A full week of baseball in Iowa
The MLB matchup will not be the only baseball event taking place in Dyersville. The renovated complex will also host a Triple-A game on August 11, featuring the St. Paul Saints, the Twins' affiliate, against the Iowa Cubs, the Cubs' Triple-A affiliate.
For the Twins, who will serve as the home team for the 2026 edition, the event represents a unique opportunity to connect with their fans in one of baseball's most recognizable settings.
"Playing in Dyersville, a place where the magic of baseball comes to life, will be special for our organization and our fans," Twins executive Joe Pohlad said.
A new chapter for an iconic venue
The Field of Dreams game made its MLB debut in 2021, when the Chicago White Sox faced the New York Yankees in one of the most memorable regular-season games in recent years.
The success of that event encouraged MLB to continue exploring unique venues and experiences designed to connect the sport with new audiences. The 2026 edition will mark the first MLB game at the Field of Dreams since the complex underwent an expansion and modernization.
The return of MLB to Iowa promises to combine nostalgia with a modern approach to presenting America's pastime. With the Twins and Phillies sharing the spotlight and Netflix handling the broadcast, the Field of Dreams will once again become one of baseball's biggest stages.
Random fact: The original Field of Dreams movie was released in 1989 and starred Kevin Costner as Iowa farmer Ray Kinsella.
