The NFL has confirmed Jay-Z as the headliner for the Super Bowl LXI halftime show, scheduled for February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California. The American rapper will take center stage at one of the most-watched musical events in the world, in an edition expected to draw millions of viewers.
JAY-Z HEADLINES THE SUPER BOWL IN A SPECIAL YEAR
The performance will coincide with the 30th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt, his debut album that marked the beginning of his career in the music industry. To celebrate three decades since the album’s release, the artist has performed sold-out shows at Yankee Stadium, as well as concerts in cities including London, Paris and Los Angeles.
“From Reasonable Doubt to the Super Bowl halftime stage, it’s been a journey. Thirty years of music, work and culture on the biggest stage in the world,” Jay-Z said in comments released by the NFL.
The rapper has earned 25 Grammy Awards and four Emmy Awards, cementing his place in hip-hop history. He became the first hip-hop artist to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and is also a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, which inducted him in 2021.
BAD BUNNY’S LEGACY AND THE NFL’S BIG MOVE
Jay-Z will follow Bad Bunny, who headlined the previous Super Bowl halftime show. According to the reference information, the Puerto Rican superstar’s performance earned seven Emmy Awards, making it the most-awarded halftime show in the event’s history.
The announcement also marks a significant moment for Roc Nation, the company associated with Jay-Z that partners with the NFL to produce the halftime show. Commissioner Roger Goodell explained that when the league reached its agreement with the company, he expressed his hope that the rapper himself would eventually take the stage.
With this confirmation, the NFL is preparing the musical centerpiece of Super Bowl LXI, which will accompany the battle for the 2026 NFL season championship and feature one of the most influential figures in American music.
