The 2026 NFL season will mark a historic milestone with a record number of games played outside the United States. The league will expand its global footprint across seven countries and four continents—including the long-awaited return to Mexico City and debuts in Melbourne,Munich and Paris.
The 2026 NFL season is shaping up to be the most international in the league’s history, with nine regular-season games played outside the United States, spread across seven countries and four continents. This expansion underscores the NFL’s ambition to strengthen its global presence and connect with fans around the world.
One of the most celebrated announcements is the NFL's return to Mexico City after a multi-year hiatus. The Estadio Banorte, formerly known as Estadio Azteca, will host the Mexican game, backed by a multi-year agreement that also covers the 2027 and 2028 seasons. This move reaffirms the league's commitment to one of its most passionate markets outside the United States
Europe remains a key pillar: London will host three matchups in its now-traditional international series, while Madrid returns to the schedule following the success of 2025 at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. Additionally, Paris will make its long-awaited debut as a host for an NFL regular-season game, with the New Orleans Saints confirmed as one of the participating teams.
The global expansion also reaches new horizons: for the first time, the NFL will hold a game in Melbourne, Australia, at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground, and another in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, at the legendary Maracanã. Germany rejoins the circuit with a matchup in Munich, further strengthening its rapidly growing fanbase for the sport.
With this record-setting schedule, the NFL not only strengthens its international ties, but also celebrates the global diversity and passion for American football in 2026.
