All the Goals from Flamengo vs. Pyramids in the Intercontinental Cup
The Copa Libertadores champions and the Egyptian side face off in the semifinals of FIFA’s tournament to determine PSG’s opponent.
Brazil’s Flamengo and Egypt’s Pyramids FC meet this Saturday in the Copa Challenger, a single-elimination match that will decide who faces Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the Intercontinental Cup Final. The match will be played at Ahmad bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar.
How Do Flamengo and Pyramids Reach the Intercontinental Semifinals?
The Rio-based club arrives as the clear favorite after winning the Copa Libertadores and completing the most successful season in its history. In the previous round, Flamengo defeated Cruz Azul 2–1, powered by a decisive brace from Giorgian De Arrascaeta, a result that earned them the first trophy of the competition.
Pyramids FC, coached by Croatian manager Krunoslav Jurčić, enter as a lesser-known but dangerous opponent. Founded in 2008, the club recently lifted the 2024–25 CAF Champions League trophy and knocked out teams such as Auckland City and Al Ahli along the way.
Their main attacking threat is Congolese striker Fiston Mayele, who scored a crucial hat-trick against Al Ahli. This comes despite a recent heavy defeat suffered by an alternate squad in the Egyptian League Cup
